Mark Hurd is the CEO and Chairman of Hewlett Packard. Mark Hurd became the HP CEO in 2005 and was named Chairman of the HP Board in 2006. In joining the executive leadership team at HP, Mark Hurd’s objective has been to improve HP’s operating efficiency, financial performance, and customer focus.
Mark Hurd has received ample recognition and praise for his performance. The HP Chairman has cut operational costs across the board and made the decisions in infrastructure that has propelled HP into progressive growth. Under the HP Chairman’s new leadership, HP’s stock almost doubled in value between 2005 and 2007. Also in 2007, HP managed to overtake its rival IBM, buy out Compaq, and reclaim the title of best PC maker from Dell. Today, the HP Chairman leads HP in research and development and innovation.
Mark Hurd is a business figure who sets an example in executive leadership. Since becoming HP’s CEO, Mark Hurd has also become a member of the board at Newscorp. Business Week named Mark Hurd Businessperson of the year for 2007.
Mark Hurd earned recognition as a performing business figure at NCR Corp, where his career spanned numerous positions in management, operations, sales, and marketing. Mark Hurd was the COO of NCR in 2002 and became its CEO in 2003. Mark Hurd earned his bachelor's degree in business administration from Baylor University.
